Salina Central’s Agriculture Education program serves students from both Salina Central and Salina South High School, with transportation provided. This creates a diverse student base and allows for strong program growth and outreach.

● Advanced Animal Science
● Metals I (shared program – full-time metals instructor on staff)

Position Responsibilities
● Teach assigned agriculture courses using engaging, hands-on instruction
● Serve as FFA Advisor, including supervision of activities, contests, and events
● Create a positive, inclusive classroom and lab environment
● Collaborate with staff, administration, and community partners
● Maintain accurate records and student progress
● Uphold district policies and professional expectations

Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education or related field
● Current or ability to obtain Kansas teaching licensure in Agriculture
● Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills

Agricultural Education Teacher (7-12) / FFA Advisor

Primary Purpose

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in agricultural education to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The Agricultural Education Teacher develops students knowledge and skills in agriculture, agribusiness, plant science, leadership, and agricultural mechanics while preparing them for postsecondary education and careers in agriculture. The teacher serves as the FFA Advisor and supports the three-circle model of agricultural education including classroom instruction, FFA leadership development, and Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAE).

Qualifications

Education/Certification(s)/License(s):

Valid Kansas teaching license with Agricultural Education endorsement. May be hired with the expectation to complete endorsement requirements or participate in a transition to teach program.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of agricultural science, horticulture, agribusiness, and agricultural mechanics.

Ability to deliver hands-on instruction in laboratories, shop environments, and greenhouse settings.

Knowledge of FFA organization, leadership programs, Career Development Events (CDE), and Leadership Development Events (LDE).

Ability to supervise and guide students in Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs.

Ability to manage agricultural laboratories, shops, greenhouses, and equipment safely.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Experience:

Teaching, student teaching, or related agricultural education experience preferred.
