USD 492 Flinthills is a small rural school district with close access to Wichita and Interstate 35.  Flinthills has high academic standards, many opportunities to participate in sports and activities, and a very supportive community. 

Our current program is strong with more than 50% of our 7-12 student body involved in the ag and FFA programs.  We just completed the construction of a brand new ag building that can house farm/ranch animal of all sizes.  There is about 8 acres of ground attached for grazing.  We are in the planning stages of building corrals for the large animals.  This is an incredible opportunity to come into an established program and to be part of a very supportive community towards the growth of the program.

The district will provide a full single health insurance policy as well as a matching 403B retirement option. Dental, Vision, and other health insurance benefit options are available. Salary is based upon years of experience and education. Currently, our base salary is $39,500. The FFA Supplemental Stipend is $5,333, and there is a 10-Day Extended Contract which is based upon placement on the salary schedule. Using the base salary on the salary schedule, and including the supplemental salary, the starting total salary for this position is $47,027.

Flinthills USD 492 includes schools in the communities of Rosalia and Cassoday. Located east of El Dorado in eastern Butler County, the school is  a progressive 1A school district with total enrollment of 265 students. The district has a K-2 building located in Cassoday while grades 3-12 attend school in buildings located in Rosalia. Flinthills High School is expecting an enrollment of 97 students in grades 9-12 for the 2016-17 school year. The middle school has 44 enrolled. 

The district also offers online learning through its virtual program.  All district facilities were renovated in 2002 as result of a bond issue. Technology used in the district includes a 1:1 initiative grades 3-12.  K-6 use  ipads, while 7-12 have laptops.

Extracurricular activities include a full offering of sports including football, cross country, volleyball, wrestling, basketball, baseball, softball, and track. Non-athletic activities include cheerleading, drama, forensics, scholars bowl, band, vocal and FFA.

Neodesha USD 461 has an opening for a Vocational Agriculture Instructor/FFA Advisor USD 461 for the 2021-2022 school year.
USD 461 pays $540 a month towards a single health insurance policy and $740 a month on all policies beyond a single. They offer a comprehensive Section 125 benefit package as well as sick, personal, professional, and bereavement leave as per the negotiated agreement. Salary will be based on education and years of experience. In addition, this position has an extended contract of 15 additional days at the daily rate of pay. Current base salary is $40,600.

Position Summary & Responsibilities

The Education Program Consultant (EPC) represents the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE), the Kansas Board of Education (KSBE) and the Kansas Legislature in providing professional educational consultative services to public educational institutions, educational related organizations and associations, government agencies, and the general public.

Educational consultative services may include, but are not limited to: providing technical assistance and professional development; interpreting state and federal laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures as they relate to the KSDE and the educational programs of the state; and special projects as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Education with an emphasis in Agriculture Education, Career and Technical Education and/or similar field. Experience may be substituted for education as deemed relevant by the agency.

Preferred Skills and/or Qualifications

  • Advanced degree from an accredited university or college in Education with an emphasis in Agriculture Education, Career and Technical Education and/or similar field.
  • Broad knowledge of educational issues;

  • Knowledge of assessment principles, ability to write well, to speak effectively and evaluate educational materials, equipment, and facilities used in secondary education;
  • Basic knowledge of testing/assessment principles and practices;
  • Knowledge and skills related to group dynamics and team participation and facilitation;
  • Knowledge of federal grant writing and reporting protocols;
  • Skills in report writing and communication of findings to a range of audiences;
  • Excellent public relation and communications skills;
  • Effective problem-solving, planning, and decision-making skills; and
  • Ability to design and implement programs and facilitate staff development.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources Career Cluster Field, Agriculture Education, FFA, or related area;
  • Experience in secondary Agriculture education or secondary CTE certification; and
  • Experience in educational administration and curriculum assessment at secondary, postsecondary or adult level

Classroom Instruction:

  • Teach Agriculture Science and Technology classes
  • Prepare teaching plans, demonstration plans and teaching materials for all classes
  • Prepare and evaluate teaching schedule, curriculum, and teaching calendars
  • Conduct field trips, both in and out of district
  • Coordinate, maintain inventories, and keep record of the agriculture materials and equipment for classroom use 
  • Advise and evaluate students regarding supervised Agriculture Experience Programs
  • Assist students with the planning and maintenance of records
  • Fulfill all state CTE Pathway paperwork, requirements, and goal setting. This includes meetings with the Agriculture Advisory Board.
  • Assist students in keeping electronic records at the local and state level FFA
  • Be willing to serve as advisor for the FFA chapter
  • Assist students in coordinating FFA activities at the local, district, state, and national levels
  • Prepare and train FFA and agriculture contest teams and entries
  • Assist students in preparing applications for proficiency awards, state, and American Degrees, etc.
  • Assist students in conducting a public relations program for the local FFA chapter and agriculture department 
  • Plan and attend evening activities including, but not limited to: recruitment events, consulting committee meetings, and award ceremonies
  • Contribute to the preparation and tracking of the budget for the agriculture program each year
  • Purchase supplies and equipment for the classroom and laboratory
  • Cooperate in maintaining, planning, and improving the physical facilities
  • Complete and file required reports with appropriate agencies including the Kansas State Department of Education
  • Contribute to the grant writing process for acquisition of agriculture equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Potential for extended contract opportunities
