La Crosse Middle/High School is seeking applicants for a Vocational Agriculture position.

We are located about 20 minutes south of Hays on Highway 183. La Crosse is a town of about 1000 people.  USD 395 is fully accredited. La Crosse Elementary serves grades K through six and the LMS/LHS has grades seven through twelve. We have approximately 50 7th and 8th grade students and around 100 students in the high school. We are usually a 1A school in KSHSAA activities but at times bounce up to 2A.

We currently have a Vocational Agricultural teaching position open for the 2023-24 school year. The classes that are currently taught are: Plant & Animal Science, Exploratory Agriculture (middle school), Advanced Welding, Animal Science, Intro to Welding and Food Science. We do currently have a few nested classes, Ag Communication and Leadership. The schedule can be adjusted based on instructor or student interest or change in Pathways.  Our FFA Chapter has very dedicated members that have had recent success. Our community values both the classroom and shop experiences that Vocational Agriculture provides.

We feel we offer a competitive compensation package. This information is based on the current school year. This could change based on this spring’s negotiations. Our base salary is $39,000. The FFA supplemental is $2,000. We offer this position an extended contract of 10 days, this increases the salary (based on the base salary) by $2,166.70. The District pays a full Blue Cross/Blue Shield single health insurance policy that is valued at $8,426.66,  Other coaching/sponsorship opportunities could be available as well.

LHS/LMS offers the following sports volleyball, football, cross country, basketball, track, cheer and baseball/softball (co-oped with Larned High School). Activities we sponsor include FFA, Drama, Scholar’s/Quiz Bowl, Art Club, SADD, and a very active music department.
