Extension Agent – Johnson County

Jessie Furgins to Serve as Johnson County Extension Agent 

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Jessie Furgins will join the staff of K-State Research and Extension – Johnson County as a 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent, effective September 19, 2021.  Johnson County’s office is in Olathe, Kansas. 

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Family Studies and Human Services from Kansas State University and her master’s degree in Agricultural Communication, Leadership, and Education from University of Missouri. 

Furgins has most recently been employed as a 4-H Extension Educator for University of Missouri Extension, located in Kansas City, MO. 

4-H Youth Development Agents develop and deliver educational programs for school-aged youth.  This includes supporting community clubs, out-of-school programs, school enrichment, volunteer management, and outreach to create new program opportunities with new and existing community partners. 

Local extension faculty are jointly employed in a partnership between K-State Research and Extension, headquartered on the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan, and the local Extension board.  

The role of K-State Research and Extension is to encourage the adoption of research-based information to improve the quality of life for Kansans. K-State Research and Extension is the short name for the Kansas State University Agricultural Experiment Station and Cooperative Extension Service.

Extension Agent- Southwind District

Clara Wicoff to Serve as Southwind District Extension Agent 

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Clara Wicoff will join the staff of K-State Research and Extension – Southwind District as a Nutrition, Food and Health Extension Agent, effective September 19, 2021.  Southwind District has offices in Erie, Fort Scott, Iola, and Yates Center, KS.  Wicoff’s primary office will be in Iola. 

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from Kansas State University and is working on her master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from University of Reading. 

Wicoff has most recently been employed as a Trade Subcommittee Intern for the United States House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee 

Nutrition, Food and Health agents develop and deliver programs related to nutrition and health. Programming may include but is not limited to: nutrition through the life cycle, nutrition of low-income audiences, food security, physical activity promotion, and chronic disease prevention. 

Local extension faculty are jointly employed in a partnership between K-State Research and Extension, headquartered on the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan, and the local Extension board.

Extension Agent- Livestock Production (Post Rock District)

Blaire Todd to Serve as Post Rock District Extension Agent 

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Blaire Todd will join the staff of K-State Research and Extension – Post Rock District as a Livestock Production Extension Agent, effective September 19, 2021.  Post Rock District has offices in Beloit, Lincoln, Mankato, Osborne, and Smith Center, Kansas.  Blaire’s primary office will be in Beloit. 

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from University of Missouri and her master’s degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University. 

Todd has most recently been employed as a Graduate Research Assistant for Iowa State University.   

Livestock Production agents develop and deliver educational programs related to livestock production.  Programming may include, but is not limited to: breed and species selection and management, nutrition, livestock facilities, animal identification, marketing, best management practices, and sustainable production techniques. 

Local extension faculty are jointly employed in a partnership between K-State Research and Extension, headquartered on the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan, and the local Extension board.
