POSITION SUMMARY: The chosen applicant will be a member of a successful & driven three-person Agriculture department.  This department has a proven track record at state & national levels in numerous agriculture competitions and has strong community support.  In addition to their classroom duties- applicants would be expected to be an active sponsor in preparing students for activities & club meetings- as well as organize & attend events.   The successful applicant must be a highly qualified educator endorsed in the assigned teaching area with unique qualifications and skills to create a flexible vocational program and a class environment favorable to the learning and personal growth of all students. This position requires an individual capable of establishing effective rapport with students so as to effectively motivate students to develop skills- attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a solid vocational foundation in accordance with each student’s ability.  One who will act in the best interest of every child to establish good relationships with parents- community- and other staff members that can impact the quality of the educational experience for all students.

JOB DESCRIPTION

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold a valid Kansas school teaching license or qualify for and receive the initial teaching license1 at the appropriate grade level and/or in the assigned subject matter. Emphasis in Agriculture Mechanics & welding experience preferred.
  • Be flexible- positive- and proactive in the ability to manage multiple assignments.
  • The ability to effectively communicate (verbally- electronically and in writing) with students- faculty- administration- and parents.

Hanover Job Description

Hanover is a small community in Washington County. It lays 10 minutes from Marysville and Washington. It is in the North Central District. Hanover is a 1A School. There are about 12 students per class depending on the class. Classes being taught are Animal Science, Agri-Science, Plant and Soil Science, Welding, Ag Structures, Intro to Ag. There are possibilities of adding Crop Science or Vet Science depending on what you’d be comfortable with. The community is supportive and helps out when needed.

Precision Agriculture is the practice of using remote sensing, soil sampling and information management tools to improve production. Precision agriculture is about whole farm management with the goal of optimizing returns on inputs while preserving resources. It relies on growing technologies like satellite imagery, information technology and geospatial tools.

St. Francis Community Schools, USD 297, is seeking an enthusiastic and effective ag teacher to take over a well established ag program and a vibrant FFA chapter boasting over 50 members. St. Francis is a beautiful farming and ranching community in the far northwest corner of the state that fully supports the school`s agriculture program. We are only 2.5 hours from Denver and all it`s many offerings and four hours from some of the best snow skiing in America. Classes would include the typical offerings in many ag programs statewide: Introduction to Agriculture, Animal Science, Plant and Soil Science, Ag Mechanics, etc.

USD 297 pays $435 toward a single insurance policy and $870 toward a family policy. Base salary is $36,500. Job experience will move a candidate further into the salary schedule.
