High School Agriculture Teacher – Hugoton USD 210

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Agriculture Teacher at Hugoton High School in Hugoton, Kansas. This role involves instructing students in various aspects of agriculture, including Career and Technical Education courses such as plant science, animal science, agribusiness, and agricultural mechanics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agriculture and education, capable of engaging and inspiring students to pursue careers and further studies in agriculture-related fields.

Responsibilities:
1. Develop and deliver lesson plans that cover a range of agricultural topics, aligned with state standards and curriculum guidelines.
2. Teach students about plant and animal science, agricultural technology, soil management, horticulture, and sustainable agriculture practices.
3. Organize and supervise hands-on activities such as field trips, laboratory experiments, and agricultural projects.
4. Provide guidance to students participating in FFA (Future Farmers of America) activities, including contests, conferences, and leadership development.
5. Evaluate student performance through assessments, projects, and examinations, and provide constructive feedback.
6. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and achievements.
7. Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to integrate agriculture education into interdisciplinary coursework.
8. Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress and upcoming events.
9. Stay updated with advancements in agriculture and incorporate relevant technologies and practices into teaching.
10. Ensure classroom and laboratory safety protocols are followed during all activities.

Qualifications:
– Bachelors degree in Agriculture Education, or related field. 
– Valid teaching license or certification in Kansas (or ability to obtain one).
– Previous teaching experience, especially in a high school setting, is advantageous.
– Knowledge of agricultural sciences, including crop production, livestock management, and agricultural economics.
– Familiarity with curriculum development and instructional methodologies.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
– Ability to inspire and motivate students to explore and excel in agricultural studies.
– Experience with FFA programs and activities is desirable.
– Commitment to promoting agricultural literacy and preparing students for careers in agriculture.

Agriculture Teacher – Weskan

Agriculture Education Teacher Grades 8-12 – 4 day work week!

You may also be eligible for the Rural Opportunity Zone (ROZ) Program. The main goal of the program was to attract residents and businesses to rural areas. The program consists of two components: (1) a state income tax waiver and (2) student loanrepayment assistance, both of which are available for up to five years.

Weskan Schools USD 242 has a vacancy for an Agriculture teacher at Weskan Schools Jr/Sr High School (Grades 8-12) for the 2026-2027 school year. Weksan is an agricultural, rural community with tremendous community support from our local FFA Alumni to restart an FFA Chapter. 

We are looking for a candidate with the drive and the ability to connect with a wide range of stakeholders and partners in the school and community. Plans have begun for the expansion of new livestock facilities, and there are many opportunities to create a new direction for the program with new course offerings. 

There is a stipend for  FFA sponsorship that is required for this position. Additional coaching or sponsorship stipends may be available.

Qualifications:

The classroom teacher will meet qualifications and behavior standards as set by the Kansas Department of Education.  In accordance with certification requirements and the performance expectations of USD #242, all classroom teachers shall meet the following employment criteria:

  • A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A valid Kansas Teachers Certificate with appropriate endorsement.
  • Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience.

4 Day Work Week, Monday – Thursday. Housing may be available until filled in one of the district-owned houses. 8 days per year of sick leave, Accumulation up to 44 days, 4 personal days, 2 professional days, 75% Paid BCBS Single Insurance Plan, Cafeteria 125 KPERS Retirement.

Salary Information

The starting salary for a first-year teacher is $37,800, per the Negotiated Agreement.
