Extension Director – Riley County

Daniel Skucius, Riley County Extension Director

Daniel Skucius will begin serving as the Riley County extension director, effective Jan. 6. Riley County Extension’s office is in Manhattan, Kansas.

Skucius earned his bachelor’s degree in wildlife and outdoor enterprises management from Kansas State University.  He has most recently been employed as a watershed extension specialist for K‑State Research and Extension’s Kansas Center for Agricultural Resources and Environment (KCARE) in Manhattan, Kansas.

Extension directors provide administrative leadership for budget and fiscal operations; personnel management of local staff; overall program development, delivery and evaluation; and assurance of accessibility to local programming by all individuals.  Skucius will also be working directly with the community vitality programs in Riley County.

Extension Agent – Cherokee County

Clayton Lester to Serve as Cherokee County Extension Agent

MANHATTAH, Kan. — Clayton Lester will begin serving as the Cherokee County agriculture and natural resources extension agent, effective Jan. 6. Cherokee County’s office is in Columbus, Kansas.

Lester earned his bachelor’s degree in agricultural leadership from Oklahoma State University. He was most recently employed as a farm/ranch assistant for Morgan Brothers Farm in Welch, Oklahoma.

Agriculture and natural resources agents develop and deliver educational programming related, but not limited, to agronomic and livestock production; agricultural economics; management and public policy; horticultural production and management; natural resources conservation; and environmental stewardship.

Local extension faculty are jointly employed in a partnership between K-State Research and Extension, headquartered on the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan, and the local Extension board.

The role of K-State Research and Extension is to encourage the adoption of research-based information to improve the quality of life for Kansans. K-State Research and Extension is the short name for the Kansas State University Agricultural Experiment Station and Cooperative Extension Service.
