Extension Agent – 21 Central District

Jewell Glover will begin serving as the 21 Central District 4-H youth development extension agent, effective Sept. 30. 21 Central District has offices in Kinsley and St. John, Kansas.  Glover’s primary office is in St. John.

Glover earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural leadership from Texas A&M University.  She has most recently been employed as a 4-H youth development agent for K-State Research and Extension | Kiowa County in Greensburg, Kansas.

4-H youth development agents develop and deliver educational programs for school-aged youth.  This includes supporting community clubs, out-of-school programs, school enrichment, volunteer management, and outreach to create new program opportunities with new and existing community partners.

Local extension faculty are jointly employed in a partnership between K-State Research and Extension, headquartered on the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan, and the local extension board.

Agriculture Teacher – Butler Community College

Butler Community College’s Agriculture Department seeks a 9 month full-time Agriculture Science Instructor. The full-time instructor will teach courses focused on the following subject matter but not limited to Crop Science, Soil Science, Agriculture Business, Agriculture Economics, Ag Marketing, Livestock Production, and Agricultural Technology.

The instructor needs to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, administrators, and faculty. Participation in various professional activities, such as actively serving on program advisory committees with area businesses, recruiting and advising students is expected.

Required knowledge and skills

  • Must be committed to student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Able to physically handle and sort livestock.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, without restrictions.

Required experience   

  • Full-time post-secondary teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior administrative experience with record of responsibility for Ag or Ag related areas, including, but not limited to, course scheduling and budget responsibilities, is preferred.
  • Prior industry experience is preferred.

Required educational background        

  • Bachelors degree in Agriculture, or related, is required;
  • Masters Degree is preferred.

Pay is commensurate with education and applicable experience.
