Clayton Lester to Serve as Cherokee County Extension Agent
MANHATTAH, Kan. — Clayton Lester will begin serving as the Cherokee County agriculture and natural resources extension agent, effective Jan. 6. Cherokee County’s office is in Columbus, Kansas.
Lester earned his bachelor’s degree in agricultural leadership from Oklahoma State University. He was most recently employed as a farm/ranch assistant for Morgan Brothers Farm in Welch, Oklahoma.
Agriculture and natural resources agents develop and deliver educational programming related, but not limited, to agronomic and livestock production; agricultural economics; management and public policy; horticultural production and management; natural resources conservation; and environmental stewardship.
Local extension faculty are jointly employed in a partnership between K-State Research and Extension, headquartered on the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan, and the local Extension board.
The role of K-State Research and Extension is to encourage the adoption of research-based information to improve the quality of life for Kansans. K-State Research and Extension is the short name for the Kansas State University Agricultural Experiment Station and Cooperative Extension Service.

Butler Community Colleges Agriculture Department seeks a 9 month full-time Agriculture Science Instructor. The full-time instructor will teach courses focused on the following subject matter but not limited to Crop Science, Soil Science, Agriculture Business, Agriculture Economics, Ag Marketing, Livestock Production, and Agricultural Technology.
The instructor needs to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, administrators, and faculty. Participation in various professional activities, such as actively serving on program advisory committees with area businesses, recruiting and advising students is expected.
