Extension Agent – Livestock Production-Wildcat District (Altamont)

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Wendie Powell will join the staff of K-State Research and Extension – Wildcat District as a Livestock Production Extension Agent, effective March 10, 2019. Wildcat District has offices in Girard, Pittsburg, Altamont, Indpendence, and Fredonia.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and her Master’s in Agricultural Science, both from Texas A&M University.

Powell has most recently been employed as an Agriculture and 4-H Extension Educator and Director in Oklahoma.

Livestock Production agents develop and deliver educational programs such as breed and species selection and management, nutrition, livestock facilities, animal identification, marketing, best practices and sustainable production techniques.

Extension Agent – Butler County (El Dorado)

McKenzie Smithson to Serve as Butler County Extension Agent

MANHATTAN, Kan. – McKenzie Smithson will join the staff of K-State Research and Extension – Butler County as a 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent, effective June 2, 2019. Butler County’s office is located in El Dorado, Kansas.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Wichita State University.

Smithson has most recently been employed as a Middle School Social Studies Teacher for USD 375, Circle Public Schools.

 4-H Youth Development agents develop and deliver educational programs for school-aged youth and include: supporting community clubs, out-of-school programs, school enrichment, volunteer management, and outreach to create new program opportunities with existing and new community partners.
