Prairie View High School — Agriculture Teacher & FFA Advisor

Position: Full-time, second position

Start: July 1, 2026 | Location: LaCygne, KS

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Instruction:

  • Teach courses in the following pathways, teaching assignments are to be determined:
    • Ag Technology & Mechanical Systems
    • Animal Science, Health & Related Industries
    • Diversified Ag Science
    • Plant Science & Industry Operations

FFA Advising:

  • Coach CDE/LDE teams
  • Advise the officer team
  • Oversee POA committee work
  • Plan and attend monthly chapter meetings
  • Coordinate student participation in FFA events
  • Organize FFA fundraisers
  • Collaborate with local Alumni & Supporters
  • Monitor student progress in FFA degree programs

SAE Support:

  • Oversee SAEs for all students
  • Assist in SAE development
  • Provide supervision on and off campus
  • Assist students with SAE documentation (AET)
  • Assist with proficiency award applications

Compensation & Benefits

  • PVHS agriculture teacher salaries include: a certified teaching contract, a 30 day extension to the certified teaching contract, and a supplemental contract for advising the FFA chapter.
  • Assuming Bachelor Degree & No Experience
    • BS 1 = $48,500
    • 30 Day Contract Extension = $7,780.75
    • FFA Supplemental Contract = $4,162.50
    • Total Salary = $60,443.25
      • These numbers are based on the 2025-2026 negotiated agreement

Prairie View, USD 362 serves students in Linn & Miami Counties. The high school enrollment is approximately 270. Agricultural Education facilities were constructed in 2022. These facilities include: 2 classrooms, 1 food lab, 1 office, 1 ag mechanics shop, 1 ag mechanics classroom, 2 greenhouses.
