Extension Agent – Sunflower District

Rheanna Melcher, Sunflower District Extension Agent

Rheanna Melcher will begin serving as the Sunflower District agriculture and natural resources extension agent, effective Sept 16. Sunflower District has offices in Goodland, Sharon Springs, and St. Francis, Kansas. Melcher’s primary office is in St. Francis.

Melcher earned both her bachelor’s degree in agricultural education and her master’s degree in extension education from Colorado State University and her master’s degree in animal science from West Texas A&M University. She has most recently been employed as an assistant instructor for West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas.

Agriculture and natural resources agents develop and deliver educational programming related, but not limited, to agronomic and livestock production; agricultural economics; management and public policy; horticultural production and management; natural resources conservation; and environmental stewardship.

Local extension faculty are jointly employed in a partnership between K-State Research and Extension, headquartered on the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan, and the local extension board.
